FLEx, which stands for Femtosecond Lenticule Extraction, is an entirely new way of correcting myopia (or short-sightedness).
With FLEx surgery, the entire procedure is performed using a single VisuMax femtosecond laser (as opposed to two lasers used for LASIK surgery). The laser creates a thin lens shaped piece of tissue, called a lenticule, in the middle of the cornea. The VisuMax laser then makes a flap around the edge of the lenticule. The flap is gently lifted out of the way, the lenticule removed, and the flap replaced.
This fast and safe procedure has excellent results and has brought renewed vision to people across the globe.
